As I wandered through the streets, losing myself among the symbols and sculptures of the animal figures that each house and neighborhood had chosen for themselves, I essentially sealed this story into my imagination.

The fact that each neighborhood and even families in Siena were represented by their own animal figure became the strongest starting point for this collection. The flags filling the streets, the enthusiasm of the crowds, and the ceremonial atmosphere of the races made one feel how strong this spirit was.
