STORY

LUMOTHS LITERALLY

The word "LUMOTHS" derives from "Luna Moths." Luna moths are squamate wings belonging to the silkworm butterfly family. These moths have a special story. As they fly in the darkness with their enormous wings, they always turn toward the light. In the darkness of the night, they always find the moonlight and never stray from the direction of the light to reach their destination.

At the same time, in symbolism and spiritualism, as unique totem animals, they represent concepts such as higher awareness, new beginnings and life cycles.

LUMOTHS

Lumoths raises awareness for the return of modern humans, alienated from nature and the world with its unique diversity of life, to their own wild nature. Because the damage humans alienated from nature will inflict on the world is inevitable. Lumoths' magical, silent stories await you to re-strengthen our connection with our cultural world heritage, our wildlife, and the nature to which we belong.

SUSTAINABLE VALUES WITH LUMOTHS

CRAFTMAN & ARTIST

Each design is hand-drawn by Funda Gülay Cengiz with great care and effort.

Each individual pattern emerges as a piece of art, with a design perception and a wearable art concept. Pencil and realistic illustrations clearly reveal even the slightest flaw. Therefore, the drawing process requires mastery and a wealth of knowledge in the field of painting.

LITTLE IMPACT

LUMOTHS designs are produced in small quantities, contrary to high-volume market demands, with the criterion of minimizing the damage we cause to the world.

NATURAL DYEING

The dyes used in printing the patterns are special, certified Italian dyes that are health and environmentally friendly.

As a brand stance, Lumoths creates unique designs with maximum sensitivity and awareness towards the environment, people, animals, all nature, and all living things on our planet.

NATURAL FIBERS

Inspired by the silkworms in its name, LUMOTHS is based primarily on silk as a fabric quality. Silk and cotton, natural fiber fabrics, occasionally come together and come to life in the collection.

The silks are of the highest quality, genuine natural silks. None of the fabrics contain synthetic ingredients. Therefore, millimetric variations in scarves are inherent.

LOCAL BUSINESS

Designs are created in Turkey and produced by local businesses within Türkiye.

UNTIMELY

LUMOTHS takes a bold, personal, and unique step against fast-fashion brands, truly establishing a slow-fashion brand. All collections are artistically and creatively designed with signature patterns, particularly suited for each season. This makes the brand's designs immortal and timeless. Each collection piece is meant to last a lifetime.

SMALL DONATIONS

The support we provide for the environment and life, however small, fuels our inner enthusiasm and inspiration even more. Did you know that small donations are made from the sales of LUMOTHS pieces to our animal friends, wildlife associations, and nature out of a sense of responsibility and awareness?

These small steps, which have been the most exciting part of the LUMOTHS brand and have supported the brand dynamics and spirit since its inception, will continue to make positive contributions to the diversity and sustainability of all life on planet Earth... because small beginnings create big changes.

ABOUT FUNDA

Deciding to pursue art education at the age of nine, she completed her academic career with distinction at various art and design schools before embarking on a professional career in fashion design at one of Türkiye's largest retail companies. She has created her personal brand by synthesizing her own artistic knowledge and design vision, drawing on the creative, wearable art and design approach she has been pursuing since her university years.

DESIGN PROCESS

Creative and original silent stories, inspired by all civilizations and cultures in world history, with animals as the main characters, constitute LUMOTHS pattern fictions.

First, a custom mood board is created for each collection. Then, the artistic compositions, created using traditional pencil drawing techniques, are edited and drawn. This process takes approximately two to two and a half months to complete.

The next stage, the coloring process, begins. In this stage, the pictorial compositions are integrated with the colors, preserving the charcoal effect. Finally, the silk printing process begins.
