MAGNIFICENT HOME
There was a great rush in the sky. Storks that had separated from their flock were fighting to find a place to rest, screaming loudly as they flew over the exotic parrots.
The parrots stood fearlessly before the snake, its scales glistening as it coiled, as if they had taken on the role of guardian of their own home. These weren't houses, in fact; they were magnificent, unique, and magnificent palaces where tiny sparrows chatted and goldfinches and nightingales sang with delight. These palaces, like themselves, were small, but their magnificence was immense.
The storks had their sights set on these magnificent palaces. The black-winged stork at the head of the group, on its long, slender legs, landed on this small palace. Just then, the rustling of the trees and the sound of squirrels cracking nuts for lunch echoed through the palace. All the birds were vying for control of the palace. Which bird's magnificent palace would these magnificent nests become?
INSPIRATION
The world's first and only stork hospital was in the Ottoman Empire! During the Ottoman period, there was a special interest and concern for birds. Birdhouses, one of the most magnificent symbols of this interest, could be found beautifully crafted on the exteriors of monuments, mosques, inns, caravanserais, covered bazaars, bridges, fountains, and residences. Beautiful examples still exist today.
Inspired by the Bird Palaces, which are magnificent reflections of architectural fine craftsmanship and a fine example of animal love, this collection also features Ottoman influences in its graphic elements. Inspired by zencereks, bird palaces, and decorative techniques, the pictorial composition is uniquely designed and tells its own story.
DRAWING PROCESS
These unique artistic illustrations, each one painted using the classic charcoal pencil technique by designer and illustrator Funda Gülay Cengiz, and whose drawing process alone took 2 months, not only offer elegance but also raise awareness of the existence of all other living things with which we share our planet.
